WatchPAT ONE™ – The Easiest Home Sleep Test for Patients Across Canada & the USA
The WatchPAT ONE™ is our simplest and most convenient home sleep apnea test, making it an excellent choice for patients outside of Ottawa, those living in remote communities, or anyone who prefers testing from home.
This disposable, Bluetooth-enabled device is shipped directly to your door and requires no clinic visit, no chest belts, and no cumbersome hoses. Simply wear the device like a watch with a finger probe for one night while sleeping in your own bed. Using the WatchPAT smartphone app, your sleep data is securely transmitted to our clinical team for analysis.
Powered by advanced Peripheral Arterial Tone (PAT®) technology, the WatchPAT provides detailed information beyond traditional home sleep tests, including:
- Oxygen saturation (SpO₂)
- Heart rate
- Peripheral Arterial Tone (PAT®)
- Respiratory events
- Snoring
- Body position
- Sleep staging (REM, Light & Deep Sleep)
- Actigraphy (movement during sleep)
This comprehensive data helps provide a more complete picture of your sleep quality and sleep-disordered breathing while remaining one of the easiest tests available for sensitive or light sleepers.
All studies are independently scored and interpreted by a Board-Certified Sleep Medicine Physician, with results forwarded to your primary care provider or referring healthcare professional. Our respiratory therapists remain available afterward to discuss your results and help guide you through your treatment options.
Suitable for patients 12 years of age and older.

Need More Than One Night?
For patients who have inconsistent sleep patterns or would benefit from multiple nights of data, we also offer the WatchPAT ONE-M™.
The WatchPAT ONE-M provides up to three nights of recording, which can be completed on consecutive or non-consecutive nights at your convenience.
It is particularly beneficial for:
- Variable sleepers
- Shift workers
- Patients experiencing night-to-night differences
- Individuals undergoing weight-loss programs
- Medication adjustments
- Patients wanting a more comprehensive assessment of their sleep
Important Information for Ontario Residents
Although the WatchPAT ONE™ provides a clinically validated diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea, it does not qualify for funding under the Ontario Assistive Devices Program (ADP).
To be eligible for Ontario's ADP funding toward CPAP or BiPAP equipment, patients must complete a Level 1 in-laboratory polysomnography (sleep study) at an accredited Ontario sleep laboratory.
Current ADP funding includes:
- $415.50 toward eligible CPAP equipment
- $712.50 toward eligible BiPAP equipment (when clinically indicated)
If ADP funding is important for your situation, our team can discuss the appropriate testing pathway before you proceed.
What is Peripheral Arterial Tone (PAT®) Technology?
Unlike traditional home sleep tests that rely primarily on airflow and breathing sensors, Peripheral Arterial Tone (PAT®) technology measures subtle changes in the body's autonomic nervous system by analyzing the pulse wave (arterial tone) in your fingertip. These physiologic changes occur during respiratory events and help identify breathing disturbances, sleep stages, and REM sleep with remarkable accuracy.
Because PAT technology gathers information from your body's natural cardiovascular responses, WatchPAT devices require fewer sensors, making the test more comfortable—especially for light or sensitive sleepers—while still providing comprehensive clinical data, including oxygen saturation, heart rate, snoring, body position, actigraphy, and sleep staging.
WatchPAT's PAT® technology has been extensively validated in clinical research and has become a trusted alternative to traditional home sleep testing for many patients.
