Home Sleep Testing FAQ

Common questions about home sleep apnea testing, WatchPAT® technology, results, insurance, and next steps.

Is a home sleep test accurate?

Home sleep tests can provide clinically useful information for screening and diagnosing obstructive sleep apnea. SleepEZ offers both traditional home sleep testing and WatchPAT® technology, with results interpreted by licensed sleep physicians.

What is the difference between WatchPAT and a classic home sleep test?

Classic home sleep tests typically use respiratory sensors such as airflow, effort belts, oximetry, and body position. WatchPAT uses Peripheral Arterial Tone technology with fewer sensors, making it easier for sensitive or light sleepers.

Who is WatchPAT best for?

WatchPAT is ideal for patients who want a simpler test setup, live outside Ottawa, are sensitive sleepers, or prefer fewer wires and sensors during the night.

Do I need to visit a clinic?

No. WatchPAT testing can be shipped directly to your home across Canada and the United States. Some classic home sleep testing options may depend on your location and selected service.

How does the ordering process work?

Choose your test, place your order, complete the Medical Intake Form sent by email, and once reviewed, your test is prepared and shipped to you.

Who interprets the results?

Your sleep study is scored and interpreted by a Board-Certified Sleep Medicine Physician. The report can also be sent to your primary care provider or referring healthcare professional.

Does this qualify for Ontario ADP funding?

No. In Ontario, ADP funding for CPAP or BiPAP requires a Level 1 in-lab sleep study completed at an accredited sleep facility. Home sleep testing can still provide clinically valid information but does not qualify for ADP funding.

Can SleepEZ help with insurance?

Yes. Our team can help guide you through insurance coverage, documentation, direct billing options where available, and private therapy pathways if treatment is recommended.
