Inogen One G4 Replacement Sieve Beds / Column Pair – RP-406
Replacement Sieve Bed Columns for the Inogen One G4 Portable Oxygen Concentrator
Restore and maintain proper oxygen concentration in your Inogen One G4 Portable Oxygen Concentrator with a replacement pair of G4 sieve-bed columns.
These removable metal columns contain the molecular sieve material responsible for separating nitrogen from room air, allowing the concentrator to provide high-concentration oxygen. Inogen designed the G4 columns to be user replaceable, meaning the concentrator generally does not need to be sent away simply to replace worn sieve beds.

IMPORTANT: G4 vs. Rove 4 Sieve Beds
Although the Inogen One G4 and the newer Inogen Rove 4 share several accessories, their sieve-bed assemblies are different and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Inogen One G4
Replacement Column Part Number: RP-406
Inogen Rove 4
Uses a different replacement column assembly
If your concentrator is labelled Inogen One G4, this is the replacement column set you require.
Do not purchase Rove 4 sieve beds for an Inogen One G4.
What Do G4 Sieve Beds Do?
Portable oxygen concentrators do not store oxygen.
Instead, the Inogen One G4 draws ordinary room air into the concentrator and passes it through molecular sieve material contained inside these two columns.
The sieve material removes a large portion of the nitrogen from the air, allowing the concentrator to deliver oxygen at a substantially higher concentration.
As the sieve beds are repeatedly exposed to:
-
Ambient air
-
Moisture
-
Humidity
-
Dust
-
Environmental contaminants
-
Normal operating cycles
…the molecular sieve material gradually loses efficiency.
Replacing worn columns is therefore a normal part of maintaining a portable oxygen concentrator.
When Should Inogen G4 Columns Be Replaced?
The Inogen One G4 monitors the condition of its columns and will display a Replace Columns alarm when replacement is required.
Inogen indicates that G4 sieve-column life is typically within approximately one year, although replacement may be needed sooner depending on operating conditions.
Actual lifespan can be influenced by:
-
Amount of concentrator use
-
Environmental humidity
-
Storage conditions
-
Dust exposure
-
Temperature
-
Operating environment
Rather than relying only on a calendar schedule, the Replace Columns notification on the G4 should be used as the primary indicator that the sieve beds require replacement.
User-Replaceable Design
One of the advantages of the Inogen One G4 is its removable column system.
The G4 sieve-bed pair can be replaced by the user without tools and without routinely sending the concentrator away for service. Inogen provides a dedicated G4 column-change procedure for this purpose.
After installation, follow the manufacturer's instructions to complete the column replacement procedure and reset the appropriate notification.

G4 vs. Rove 4 – Know Your Model
The G4 and Rove 4 can easily be confused because the Rove 4 is the newer compact Inogen platform and several accessories are shared between the two systems.
For example, Inogen currently lists several batteries, chargers and carrying accessories as compatible with both the G4 and Rove 4.
That does NOT mean every internal replacement component is interchangeable.
Before purchasing sieve beds, check the model name printed on your concentrator.
If your machine says:
INOGEN ONE G4 → Purchase G4 replacement columns / RP-406
INOGEN ROVE 4 → Purchase Rove 4 replacement columns instead
Frequently Asked Questions
How many sieve beds come in one order?
Two.
The Inogen One G4 uses two columns, and Inogen sells the replacement columns as a complete pair.
Do I replace both G4 columns at the same time?
Yes.
The columns are designed to be sold and replaced as a pair.
How often should G4 sieve beds be replaced?
Inogen states that column life is typically within approximately one year, but actual replacement timing depends on the operating environment and usage.
The G4 will display a Replace Columns alarm when replacement is required.
Can I replace Inogen G4 columns myself?
Yes.
The G4 columns were specifically designed to be user replaceable. Inogen provides step-by-step instructions allowing the column pair to be replaced without tools.
Do I need to send my G4 away for sieve-bed replacement?
Normally, no.
The removable column design allows the sieve beds themselves to be replaced without sending the concentrator away simply for a routine column change.
Are G4 and Rove 4 sieve beds the same?
No.
Although several external accessories are shared between the two concentrators, the replacement sieve-bed assemblies are different.
If you have an Inogen One G4, choose the G4 / RP-406 column pair.
What does the “Replace Columns” warning mean?
The concentrator has determined that the sieve columns are reaching the point where replacement is required.
Because these columns contain the material responsible for separating nitrogen from room air, they are considered a normal service component of the concentrator.
Will changing the sieve beds fix a low oxygen concentration warning?
Degraded sieve beds can affect the concentrator's ability to produce the expected oxygen concentration, so replacement is appropriate when the device indicates that the columns have reached the end of their service life.
However, persistent oxygen-concentration alarms or other device warnings after a column change may indicate another issue with the concentrator and should be assessed according to the manufacturer's instructions or by your oxygen equipment provider.
